Program Overview:
The Housing Choice Voucher Program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was formerly known as Section 8. PCHA provides more than 416 Housing Choice Vouchers to low income families.
Families are awarded a Housing Choice Voucher by meeting income and program requirements. The voucher permits them to find suitable housing of their choice from landlords who are interested in participating in the program. PCHA will pay all or a portion of the resident’s rent based on their income.
The landlord and tenant relationship is the same as with other renters, except for a portion of the rent is paid by PCHA.
Waitlist:
Currently the Housing Choice Voucher waitlist closed August 10, 2018.
Due to the volume of applications, positions on the waitlist cannot be given until 60 days after the closing date.
The waitlist is not applicable to Landlords. There is still a need for additional Housing Choice Voucher landlords.
