Suspended Operations
March 17, 2020
Dear PCHA Residents:
At Panama City Housing Authority, the health and well-being of our residents, clients, and employees are of the utmost importance. Due to the nature of the Coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19, effective immediately we will be suspending all annual inspections, recertifications, and non-emergency maintenance calls through March 27, 2020.
To reduce the likelihood of getting or spreading the coronavirus do the following:
• Wash hands often for at least 20 seconds, using warm water and plenty of soap. Especially after touching shared objects such as door handles.
• Avoid touching your face, eyes, mouth, and nose.
• Cover coughs and sneezes, using a tissue or your forearm, not your hands.
• Consider home preparedness and stocking up on extra groceries, medicines, and other supplies.
• Avoid handshaking.
• If you have questions, contact your doctor via telephone before going to their office or clinic.
• The White House has advised not to gather in groups larger than 10.
If you feel sick or are showing symptoms like fever, cough, or shortness of breath, do the following:
• Stay home except for attending medical appointments.
• Avoid contact with others.
• Contact PCHA if you are in need of assistance, but please do not go to the PCHA office. We want to help if at all possible, but also need to keep staff healthy to continue to serve our clients.
• Call your doctor as needed, especially if you are over the age 60, have chronic medical conditions, or are pregnant.
• Health Department: (850) 872-4455
If you live in a PCHA building and you or a family member get the coronavirus, please let PCHA staff know by phone. We want to support you and take action to prevent the spread of the virus.
Please visit facebook.com/panamacityhousingauthority or panamacityhousing.org for continued updates.
Thank you for following the above guidance. We recognize these may be stressful times for many of the people we serve. We will continue to monitor the situation and evaluate additional measures to support our clients and associates as the need arises. We hope you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy.
Sincerely, Teri Henry Executive Director

PCHA residents,
We have worked out a temporary office at our Kirkland Community at 261 Everitt Avenue. We still do not have phones but our staff will be on site from 8-2:30 Monday – Friday at this location. These are temporary office hours and will extend in the future as utility services come online.
You can also email us at info@panamacityhousing.org
FEMA is still everyone’s primary resource for temporary housing vouchers and cash assistance. There is a letter posted on our website to assist you with their request for a letter from your landlord.
If you live at Massalina or Fletcher Black, all residents have been requested to relocate.
If you live at any of our other communities, and your apartment has been heavily damaged, unfortunately, you will be required to relocate as well. We have talked with most of our residents in this situation, but if we have missed you, please contact us via email or visit us at the temporary office.
For non Massalina and Fletcher Black residents: If your apartment has minor damage and you would like to stay, please let us know via email or stopping in the Kirkland office location. We will be starting the remediation process as utility services are returned and assistance is acquired. This will be a long process.
We are still actively working with HUD to try to find available units in the southeast. Please remember, those units will be offered to the elderly and disabled as a priority.
If you are a section 8 voucher holder with PCHA, we have not forgotten you. We are working voucher portability options. Feel free to reach out to other areas you can relocate and call their HA. Our HCV/Section 8 staff will be available at our temporary office as well.
As we work towards the next step, remember that kindness and patience goes a long way.
Sincerely,
Teri Henry
Executive Director

PCHA Residents,
Our communication resources are still very limited and the PCHA office did not survive the storm. We are working hard to get services started again.
Our properties have been heavily damaged and some are beyond repair. We are asking residents of Massalina and Fletcher Black Apartments to begin executing their relocation plan. The safety of our residents is very important, and this storm has rendered those units uninhabitable.
The first, and most important step, is filing your claim with FEMA. FEMA can provide temporary housing vouchers and cash assistance.
We are working with HUD to try to secure other public housing units in the Southeast area. If those units are acquired, the elderly and disabled PCHA residents will have a priority status.
As soon as communication is restored, we will notify residents via this website and and our Facebook page.
You will see our staff at your communities daily continuing the clean up process. Please remember that they also have damaged or destroyed homes, but are working hard to help our residents. The recovery process will take time but we will do our best to bring back services to you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Teri Henry
PCHA Executive Director
